Adopters get a holiday goody bag for their new pet that includes cat food, toys and a gift card for a free wellness exam at The Cat Practice , in Birmingham, Michigan.
Hours for the holiday cat adoption event and Pet Supplies Plus Christmas open house are: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fri., December 10; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sat., December 11; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sun., Dec. 12.
Shoppers will be treated to some great holiday specials on pet supplies, prize drawings and complimentary holiday refreshments.
Pet owners can get a picture with Santa and their pet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 12 by making a donation to Oakland Pet Adoption Center.

Hello...we are back from Thanksgiving travels and just getting caught up enough to spend a few minutes with our blogging friend/s. Boy is it amazing how far behind you get when you don't check in daily. LOL
Hope all the cats and kittens find their furever home as soon as possible.
However, I also hope the potential adopters do think twice before they bring any furkids home. I know it's a Christmas season and it is the time that we give presents to the ones that we love, however, pets sometimes do become one of the gift items. I've heard that many pets are returned or given to the shelters after Christmas because the BUYERS or gift RECEIVERS feel that they either can't handle the furkids or they just don't want the furkids anymore.
So I do hope all adopters come with a pure loving heart, adopt a pet and love and take care of them for the rest of their pet's life!

You are so right that people need to be sure they NEED, WANT and can PROVIDE for either a dog or a kitty if they get one for the holidays.
I think first time owners should not adopt at this time of year unless they are adopting for themselves and are SURE that they can provide for the dog or cat....I am going to post your quote again here:"So I do hope all adopters come with a pure loving heart, adopt a pet and love and take care of them for the rest of their pet's life!" because I think you said it best! xoxo

It's a great idea!! I too hope that people who are potential adopters will also understand that the kitties "on show" are looking for forever and loving homes that are for life - forever and ever!!!

Mes came from the SPCA. Mes was badly abused and people had hurt me. So most new peoples did not want me cuz I was a horrible cat.
Peoples should know what they are getting into when they gets a cat. I hope this works for all those kitties.

It's a sad result of our poor economy that so many more pets are landing in shelters. thanks for posting about it and I hope everyone will consider a shelter pet. All of my cats and one of my dogs came from shelters. They all were so happy to have a new home and are wonderful additions to our household.

Agree with Priscilla, that happens far too often. Cats and dogs shouldn't be given as surprise gifts, it's a big decision that has to be made as a family.
It's a good thing they're all de-sexed as well, when our kittens got spayed the vet said it's the best thing you can do if you don't plan to breed - too many kittens are simply dumped!!

Hi Heather! The end result was that 70 cats were adopted and I believe 3 dogs (not bad!) I mentioned on your other comment that I clicked on your name and saw that you have a dog/pet sitting service. You are in the same area as my sister-in-law. She is in Plantation. She has 3 cats and one dog....not sure if she needs a Pet Sitter but in the event she does I copied your link and sent it to her!
