Passover Starts Tonight At Sunset, Or In Other Words, Mom Will Be Joining Me On A Grain-Free Diet For Eight Loooong Days

Hi Everyone! It's Cody! My Mom wanted me to write today because she is a slacker not feeling well because of her kidney stones, but she wanted to wish everyone who celebrates, a HAPPY PASSOVER!

You know what I like about Passover?  You aren't allowed to eat any bread, now Mom can see what it's like to be on a grain-free diet!

For those who don't know what the holiday Passover is, you can read about it here.

Happy Passover to those who celebrate it!!!
Love, Cody & "Mom"

Mom said she would starve if she tried to go grain-free for a week. And we have learned something today. We did not know that grain was not allowed during Passover. Enjoy your celebration!!!

I have a question. What is matzo made from? Or do I have that wrong that it's used in the Seder meal? I thought the abstaining from leavened bread was part of Passover, not complete abstinence of grain. I also didn't know it goes on for 8 days. Turns out I don't know as much as I thought I did about Passover.
Blessings to you on this holy day.

Oh, you're mom is so dedicated to the spiritual part of life, Cody. We don't celebrate Passover, even though part of mom's family are Jewish, but we respect all of the sacred days and we think it's wonderful that you're helping out your mom this way!

Ha, that is funny that your mom has to join you on the grain free thing for a while! We had heard about that because we heard about the special Coca Cola that comes out at Passover with no High Fructose Corn Syrup in it - we didn't realize til we heard about it that it covers all foods with any grain! We hope your mom has a good dinner!!

Happy Passover, Cody and People! My Human and I are going to go read more about Passover on your link. We did not know that the grain prohibition lasted for so many days! That's okay by me, but I think my Human would find it hard.

WOW Everyone! My mom and I were soooo surprised to come online (finally, we weren't on ALL day and ALL night yesterday) and see so many fabulous comments! THANK YOU ALL! I can't answer every one individually cause my paws will be tired but...to Mary....email my mom and she will tell you but she made nothing exciting...too hard to on Passover cause everything dries out with being heated up.
@Scrappy Grams YOU ARE RIGHT....it is unleavened bread that is not supposed to be eaten and SOME grains (like oats I think, some are allowed)....I took creative license by saying GRAIN FREE because of Cody being on a grain free diet...but yes you are right it is predominantly unleavened bread. YOU KNOW YOUR STUFF!
@Wendy, nope! I am not religious at all...my husband is the one who observes more than I do. I am Jewish but was raised very loosey goosey on religion. My husband is more religious.
I am sorry I can't answer each comment individually but thank you to ALL! Now I have to catch up with the over 200 emails since I wasn't online at all yesterday! I will be on all day!
Love you all!

Happy Passover Caren and Cody. My family loved this photo. We were wondering what kind of wine was in the pic- it's too small to read. But I bet it was Catcord (aka Concord) wine.

Chag sameach, Caren and Cody.
Thank you for dropping by to visit my 2 furbabies - they've left you a comment too :-)
Hope the preparations for the seder didn't leave you too exhausted. It is pretty tiring. At least here in Israel, we only have one seder but I remember that in the diaspora, there are two. Total exhaustion, I would think....

thanks so much again everyone!!!!! Mom and I loved your greetings!
@2 Russian Blues I laughed when you said the wine has to be "catcord" MOL!

@Shimona Chag Sameach to you too!! How wonderful that you are in Israel! Were you born and raised there? No two Seders for us! Thank goodness! Thanks for stopping by and we are following you!

L'shanah tovah, dear Caren. Do you not love this holiday? My fave. Have some charoset for me. I'm missing out this year. Must go bite an apple. And drink wine. Oh yes.

I hope you had a good passover, Cody! I read it from your brother's blog that he had a good one and your mom is exhausted now.

I'm so so sorry that I missed some of your blogs as I've been extremely extremely busy, then time flies and before I know it, it's late at night and my brain is dead tired to read any blogs let alone to do any comments. Please please forgive my absence, Cody!

I'll be more diligent in the future!!! Hopefully!!!

Hi Caren, we do both Passover and Easter. The no yeast is a tough one but doable. Our Easter will be low keyed.

BTW...thank you so much for your heartfelt comment about our dear Niles. I appreciate it.
